Eco-Somatic Community Ritual

An eco-somatic ritual gathering to cultivate embodied presence and relationality with the ecology / body of the land. We will honor the threshold energies of spring and rebirth - both to come into attunement with the changing season and also to ground ourselves in the spirit of cycles so as to evoke visions for collective liberation amidst socioecological injustices and crises.

Julia will guide us through a ritual of ancestrally rooted somatic practices and prayer with the hopes offacilitating embodiment in relationship with the land that is nourishing, rejuvenating, and in right relationship.

we will:

  • regenerate embodied relationality with the land and energies of this seasonal threshold

  • counter the disembodiment and body/land body/mind severing perpetuated by colonial capitalist culture

  • Cultivate belonging with the earth mother and each other without bypassing the ongoing realities of settler colonization on these lands

What is eco-somatics?

  • Eco-somatics is a field of embodied research and practice exploring ancestral technologies of animist wisdom. With roots in Indigenous knowledge systems, my approach combines decolonial theory, somatic practice, and ecological relationality to create a framework for embodied belonging.

  • Eco-somatic approaches rest on a foundational acknowledgment of interdependence and explores how life moves within and along a relational continuum between bodies, Lands and Waters across space and time.

Location is on public lands in Kingston and will be disclosed upon RSVP to hello@juliaclairechase.com.

Cost is sliding scale $15-30. For BIPOC, single parents, or anti-capitalist/fascist activists this is $12. If cost is a barrier but you’d still like to attend, you will not be turned away and can still attend but please let Julia know via email if you’re planning on taking that route.

All are welcome! I hope you will join us! Feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns.

LAND ACKNOWLEDGMENT

We will gather on the occupied ancestral territories of the Wampanoag Nation. Settler-colonization is a paradigm and structure that continues to desecrate these sacred lands and undermine the sovereignty of the Wampanoag people. Despite this, the Wampanoag people continue to steward ancient Indigenous lifeways & sacred reciprocity with these lands.

We will gather knowing that our presence on these lands & participation in colonial systems makes us complicit in the ongoing problem of settler destruction – even if unwilling -- & that we have a responsibility to divest from the paradigm of colonial Empire & seed right relationship with these lands and their Original Stewards. May our time together be aligned with collective liberation.
